This is the 3rd and final part of Yuval Naveh’s (HireBiz Med’s co-owner) interview with Dr. Steven C. Zielinski, MD, the President and CEO of Zielinski Medical Technologies · Texas Spine & Neurosurgery. UV:
AI is coming everywhere.. but you already mentioned this, They’re not really AIs, they can do 2 things but they cannot connect the pieces. So can you please explain ‘cause a lot of my competitors are presenting themselves as AI.
DR Z:
The fact of the matter is AI in the day, people were talking about AI and they really meant AI. Now these companies are coming out with AI and it’s not AI.
Some of them are very good, some of them are very complicated computer algorithms that spit out very good results in an enclosed environment. Healthcare is never an enclosed environment and so you’re absolutely right, AI will do something very interesting as long you babysit them every step of the way.
There’s no artifical intelligence.. healthcare is not with anybody’s parameters, that’s the trick, that’s why a human being, until we develop true artificial intelligence, one day it will be there, today’s not the day.
UV:
And by the way, another thing. The cyber security, the HIPAA, all this kind of stuff.
The medical industry, when I pivot to it, I understood at the beginning that working from home didn’t work but I do know that because obviously at home, I cannot control their computers, I cannot control the programs that you have and so on but I also know that with AI, there is a concern. Because those robots, they’re gonna get smarter.
DR Z:
We know that the softwares we use for video chatting like Teams is HIPAA compliant, we’ve verified this. But AI is software and they’re coming up with these AI stuff and technically speaking, none of these have been certified by the federal government in the US as being HIPAA compliant.
UV:
That’s what I tell my people. Probably we can staff you with half of the VAs that we have now and more technology, but the people are not gonna disappear. They’re just gonna use more and more tools along the road.
DR Z:
That’s exactly it, making a better tool does not stop it from being a tool. AI is a tool. It’s not a human replacement, and that’s where people are messing up and that’s why it’s not working very well.
Doctors Can Offshore Almost Everything to Work-from-Office Medical VAs
UV:
As a physician, what are actually the necessary things that a physician needs physically done in the office because basically, he can offshore everything else.
DR Z:
We’re so used to and managers are so used to the idea that this is a job with all these job requirements but when you look at a medical office, what do you really need people here for? You don’t need them for scribing, it can be done remotely. You don’t need them for incoming and outgoing calls, you don’t need them for setting up appointments, you don’t need them for getting authorizations or verifying insurances, you don’t need them for re-ordering lots of the drugs ‘cause that’s all automated. If the higher health record is in the cloud, it can be accessed anywhere, why would someone need anyone in a physical location?
And so part of the reason why I came to the conclusion I think quicker than the others is that I go to a lot of satellite offices/clinics. So I quickly had to figure out what I actually had to physically carry with me and who I physically had to take versus what I could leave behind and be done in the office.
You’re not trying to replace people, what you’re trying to do is augment it so that instead of hiring 10 employees here to get the job done, you have 1 employee here and 9 employees somewhere else supporting your 1, and all of a sudden, you get 20 times the productivity, that’s what you’re looking for.
UV:
Yeah, that’s it. I just wanna say first of all thank you so much, like I said the journey with you is amazing for me. There are a lot of different clients and the fact that you’re so cool and you know what you’re doing .. it’s working you know and I believe that we’ve also created a friendship. Thank you so much for this interview, I just want you to say closing words in regards to first of all, I don’t know if I’m a VA agency, so if you have a description.

I’m competing against VAs.
DR Z:
You’re not a VA. I mean you provide but it’s like saying you’re not just selling a muffler, you’re fixing the whole vehicle and providing the service. That’s the difference. To my mind, looking out there with what I’ve seen, nobody else is doing this functionally.
UV:
I hope so. That’s what am trying to create. That’s it, any other thing that you wanna add?
DR Z:
I think we got it. I just think we gotta keep this growing.
